Indian Player Ratings: Thoi Singh proves his mettle but haphazard in front of goal
Jeje had a poor outing again for the Marina Machans, as the Mizo Sniper's bad form continues yet again.
Chennaiyin FC came crashing down to ATK in today's ISL encounter, with South Indian outfit losing 2-3. Jayesh Rane scored an amazing goal from outside the box, while Manuel Lanzarote finally found his rhythm back, scoring twice, albeit both through penalties. Thoi Singh and former FC Pune City man Issac Vanmalsawma scored for the home side.
Two penalties and a blinder of a strike was enough to give @ATKFC the edge at @ChennaiyinFC's backyard, as #CHEKOL ended 2-3 in Chennai. More videos: https://t.co/8jtqJIjojH #ISLRecap #HeroISL #LetsFootball #FanBannaPadega pic.twitter.com/cSbOmT8AqB

Watch: Chennaiyin 2-3 ATK, Goals and Highlights
Below are the ratings of the Indian players involved in the game:
Chennaiyin FC
Sanjiban Ghosh – 4.5

Sanjiban still has to grow in terms of handling pressure in big games
Sanjiban Ghosh was low on confidence, completely. After having seen two goals go past him, the goalkeeper became too nervous to handle the pressure and was caught out of the position during the chaotic rumbling of the two sides in front of his goal at the 78th minute. The result is his side conceding yet another penalty. Sanjiban has to grow a lot in terms of handling pressure during big games.
Laldinliana Renthlei – 4.0
The highlight of the game of Laldinliana was the unnecessary heated argument he got himself involved into with the referee. The argument came for no reason after the referee awarded ATK their second penalty of the game because of Carlos Salom handling the ball. A youngster losing his cool on the referee shows how much discipline he has to learn yet.
Jerry Lalrinzuala – 4.5
Jerry had absolutely no impact on the game as the youngster drew a blank in terms of crosses in the box or key passes made. The fullback also has no clearances or blocks or interceptions from the first half to boast. He was replaced by Tondonba Singh at the beginning of the second half.
Thoi Singh – 8.0
How did Thoi Singh not find the back of the net there? ????Watch it LIVE on @hotstartweets: https://t.co/1YQWiCeF9U JioTV users can watch it LIVE on the app. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #FanBannaPadega #CHEKOL #ISLMoments pic.twitter.com/cb8CTXIxiO

Although he had scored, Thoi did miss a sitter too
The best player on the pitch without a doubt, Thoi Singh kept Chennaiyin FC into the game until the final whistle was blown. He scored one, assisted another and had his teammates taken the chances, Thoi would have at least a goal more to show and Chennaiyin a point more. The midfielder has continued his good form and now has established himself as a firm contender for a place in the Indian lineup for the AFC Asian Cup.
Issac Vanmalsawma – 7.5
Issac supported Thoi very well throughout the game. The 22-year-old also scored one after combining well with Thoi Singh, to cut down the lead of ATK to 1 goal. Issac also created a chance from the four crosses he put in the middle of the box. Another player who has grown in confidence and has shone, apart from Thoi Singh.
Jeje Lalpekhlua – 4.5
Jeje's poor form in front of the goal has been reflected in Chennaiyin's performances this season. The forward has been unable to score in any game of the ISL after featuring in 10 games, including this one. With AFC Asian Cup nearing, Stephen Constantine would have to take a big decision of whether to continue trusting the Mizo Sniper or look for someone else to partner the captain Sunil Chhetri upfront.
Substitutions
Anirudh Thapa – 6.5
Anirudh was very influential in his short stay and brought pace to his side when the legs had tired of others. Anirudh has grown in confidence and deserves to start after keeping a passing accuracy of 92%, something that doesn't happen very often.
Tondonba Singh - 5.5
Tondonba replaced an underperforming Jerry at the beginning of the second half but failed to change the story of the game. The 24-year-old finished with a passing accuracy of 74%.

Arindam had a decent night out in the pitch
Two goals were conceded by ATK, and Arindam could have done better to not let the goals go in. The former Mumbai City FC goalkeeper made three clearances, and one save against Chennaiyin FC.
Ankit Mukherjee- 6.5
Ankit was disciplined throughout the 95 minutes of stay on the pitch. The only poor defending moment of Ankit saw his side lose the two-goal advantage after Issac capitalised on the chance they got because of Ankit getting caught out of position due to a lapse of concentration. Ankit made 5 tackles and intercepted twice to thwart Chennaiyin attacks.
Ricky Lallawmawma - 5.5
Ricky failed to silent his flank, especially the high-flying Thoi Singh. Thoi Singh got the better of the duels between the two as he had plenty of space to put the crosses in the ATK box. Ricky had 3 clearances, 3 tackles and 3 blocks to show despite Thoi enjoying acres of space on the left.
Balwant Singh - 5.5
Only Sanjiban Ghosh to beat in goal, but @Balwant_Singh17 surprisingly fails to add one to his name! Watch it LIVE on @hotstartweets: https://t.co/1YQWiCeF9U JioTV users can watch it LIVE on the app. #HeroISL #LetsFootball #FanBannaPadega #CHEKOL #ISLMoments pic.twitter.com/HAYJ6e8Idg

Balwant missed a chance to add to the scoreline
Balwant was played as the target man and the Indian international clearly did not enjoy his time on the pitch. The star forward was left wanting for the balls when was in good positions and hence was isolated for most moments of the game. Balwant playing out of position now would be a nightmare for both, him and his fans.
Jayesh Rane - 6.5
Jayesh Rane scored the screamer that opened the floodgates for the goals to be scored. The shot did not give the goalkeeper Sanjiban any chance of making it to the extreme right and Jayesh had his goal right from the moment he took the shot. Jayesh was also impressive in the middle of the park putting five crosses and keeping a passing accuracy of 60%.
Hitesh Sharma - 6.5
Hitesh Sharma was clever enough to win his side what turned out to be the difference between the two sides. The attacking midfielder saw his shot getting almost caught by Eli Sabia, which handed his side the first penalty of the two. The youngster also has an assist to show, although he didn't have to do much for it.
