Jamshepdur forward Gourav Mukhi suspended by AIFF Disciplinary Committee for six months

The forward was found to be one of the players who were over aged during the India U16 national camp in 2015.

In a breaking news, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has handed over a six-month suspension to Jamshedpur FC forward Gourav Mukhi with an immediate effect. Mukhi, was summoned by the AIFF Disciplinary Committee for a personal hearing at its head office on Saturday, 24th November 2018 regarding an issue on ‘age fraud’.

According to the evidence presented by the player along with his admissions and the statements of the manager of under-16 AIFF academy in 2015, the committee found him guilty and came up with the disciplinary action. Apart from the suspension, the committee has also decided to revoke Mukhi’s registration from both, the Central Registration System (CRS) as well as the Competition Management System (CMS) with immediate effect. The player will be at liberty to register afresh subject to provision of original, valid and appropriate documents under the two systems.

The Jamshedpur-born lad came into the limelight this season when he scored the opening goal for the Men of Steel against Bengaluru FC in a 2-2 draw at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The goal resulted in Mukhi being declared as the youngest scorer in the history of Indian Super League (ISL), with 16-year-old. However, his fame didn’t last long and much to his fate, it took a negative turn on him. In one of the biggest controversies in the league, it was found out later that Mukhi was one of the Jharkhand players found to be over-age during the India under-16 national camp in 2015. As the controversy started spreading like a wildfire, the AIFF finally decided to take notice of it and find a solution to resolve the matter.
