The Highlanders will be looking for a marked improvement after four disappointing seasons in the league.
NorthEast United are looking to overturn their fortunes in the Indian Super League and have heavily strengthened their squad with some impressive domestic signings, which were revealed on Saturday. The Highlanders look to be serious about challenging for a prominent spot in the ISL standings next season and have improved their core significantly with these signings.
Arguably, the most prominent signing the Highlanders have made is that of former Mohun Bagan winger, Nikhil Kadam, who left the Mariners to embark on a new journey in the ISL. Kadam was quite prolific for Bagan last season and dazzled everyone with his trickery and creativity in the I-League. Zivi Zhimomi also became the first-ever player from Nagaland to sign for the side and his season with Gokulam Kerala in the I-League earned him a move to NorthEast.
Along with these two, the Highlanders have made some more important signings and have further boosted their attack and midfield with the acquisition of the likes of Seityasen Singh, Redeem Tiang and Girik Khosla. Seityasen was quite impressive for Delhi Dynamos last season, scoring some great goals from midfield and bringing a lot of energy to the team. Tiang also had a breakthrough season with Shillong Lajong in the I-League, with his impressive passing ability and eye for goal being something which will make him thrive for the Highlanders.

Former East Bengal defender Gurwinder Singh has also joined and will look to use his vast experience to add some stability to the Highlanders' otherwise shaky defense.
Some of the other players to join up with NorthEast United include the likes of Pawan Kumar, Provat Lakra, and Simranjit Singh, who all have decent experience of playing in the top flight of Indian football. It seems like after the fierce fan backlash, The Highlanders are steadily improving their core and building a proper team to at least put up a challenge for the top four in the ISL next season.
