For the past two seasons, World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe has been the standout youngster in the French top flight.

Ligue 1 has always been under the scrutiny of being the easiest league to play in, compared to the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, but over the years we have seen numerous world-class players have their roots from Ligue 1 such as Zidane from Cannes, Eden Hazard from Lille and now Kylian Mbappe, an AS Monaco graduate.

France has one of the most classified football system and every year we see a youngster rising up from nowhere and grabbing all the attention of the footballing world.

5. Malang Sarr (Nice)

The 19-year-old youngster has already established himself as a regular member of Nice. Sarr, after getting promoted from B team in the 2016-17 season has played 48 games so far.

The centre-back is also a well-known name in the international circuit having represented France in from U-16 to the U-21 stage. The CIES Football Observatory's fifth most promising youngster will surely be a hot prospect of the coming season.

4. Lucas Tousart (Lyon)

The midfielder was the captain of France U-19 squad which won the Euro 16. Lucas played a very important role in his team's success. After getting promoted to represent Lyon's senior team in 2015-16 season, the midfielder has played 60 games for them with a goal to his name.

3. Houssem Aouar (Lyon)

The 20-year-old French midfielder was a hot prospect last season. Aouar displayed some sensational performances in 2017-18 season scoring 7 goals and creating many key chances in 44 games he played for Lyon across all competitions.

2. Boubacar Kamara (Marseille)

The 18-year-old was a prime target of big clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea before the beginning of 2017-18 season. Kamara, who is already getting compared to Brazilian star Thiago Silva, showed his class in the limited opportunities he got with Marseille.

The glimpses of his talent which startled everyone last season would definitely force Marseille's coach Rudi Garcia to give him ample of game-time this season.

1. Bertrand Traoré (Lyon) 

The Lyon's number 10 is definitely the most anticipated youngster in the coming 2018-19 season. The striker scored 18 goals from 41 matches for Lyon last season.
