I-League giants Mohun Bagan launch new club website

The Mariners also celebrated the annual occasion of Mohun Bagan Day with much fanfare at the club tent.

Mohun Bagan celebrated their 119th Mohun Bagan Day on Sunday in front of a large number of supporters and members. Many former and current players were felicitated with plaques and scarfs commemorating their devotion towards the club over its history.

But, something which surprised many was that there was no announcement about the new sponsors of the club. It was rumoured that Yes Bank would be announced as the new sponsors of the club on this day. It was also expected that HCL and lot manufacturers Performax would be announced as the co-sponsors for the Mariners for the next few years.

Mohun Bagan also awarded their former captains with gold cards for their devotion to the club over the years. Plaques were given to the likes of Chuni Goswami, Syed Nayeemuddin, Achintya Belel, Prasanta Banerjee, Pradip Chowdhury, Shyam Thapa, Amit Bhadra, Mehtab Hossain, Shilton Paul and many others for their immaculate contribution to the club. Pradip Choudhury also received the “Mohun Bagan Ratna” award for his amazing work as a leader and stalwart defender for the club.

In another revelation, General Secretary Anjan Mitra was given an award by East Bengal on Mohun Bagan Day. Sourav Das was given the prize for the 'Best Youth Player of the Year' for his fantastic work in the youth leagues and also in the IFA Shield for the Mariners.

Shilton Paul received the Mohun Bagan “Player of the Year” award for his fantastic work last season between the posts, where he kept eight clean-sheets and was the perfect last line of defense for the Mariners. Chowdhury stated how blessed he was to receive the award and pleased the fans with a heartwarming statement after receiving the award.

Mohun Bagan also announced a change to their website, which is now known as mohunbaganac.co.org and will have a new look to itself. Rahim Ali was also given an award for his outstanding work in the development of Indian football. The 2018-19 season's squad for Mohun Bagan were also celebrated and given some spotlight before they take the field in the Calcutta Football League next week.
