Barcelona's Paul Pogba bid rejected by Manchester United
The French star has been deemed too important to sell by the Red Devils.
FC Barcelona have had an ambitious bid rejected for Manchester United star Paul Pogba, according to Sky In Italy. The Spanish giants have been tracking the French midfielder for quite a number of years now and put in an official bid of £45m plus defender Yerry Mina and midfielder Andre Gomes. But, the bid was swiftly rejected by the Red Devils, who have made it clear that Pogba is unsellable at this point of the transfer window.
There have been quite a few rumours sparking about the future of Pogba ever since he started enduring a "heated relationship" with manager Jose Mourinho a few months ago and it's been speculated that his agent, Mino Raiola, is trying his best to negotiate a move away from the club for his client.
But, with only two days remaining in the English transfer window, United are absolutely firm about not letting go of Pogba, who is regarded as the "Face of the Franchise" by the United hierarchy, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Paul Pogba came back to Manchester United for a then record-breaking transfer
Barcelona themselves have been pulling off surprise transfers throughout the summer, as they snatched up the likes of Malcolm and Arturo Vidal from under the noses of Italian giants AS Roma and Inter Milan. The Malcolm saga was particularly full of drama, as having initially agreed a fee for the Brazilian star, Roma were left shocked as he had a change of heart and made a last-minute switch to the Spanish giants.
Vidal is also seen as an emphatic signing, as the Chilean powerhouse will add a lot of energy and steel in their midfield, which has been lacking since the departure of Paulinho.
Manchester United are said to hold Pogba in high regard despite his tensions with Mourinho, with his marketability and importance to the club being among the highest of any players in the squad. For the Red Devils, time is definitely running out with Mourinho pressurizing CEO Ed Woodward to bring in some more players to boost their squad before the Premier League kicks-off on Friday night. United are looking to sign at least one centre-back, with the likes of Toby Aldeweireld, Jerome Boateng, and Harry Maguire all being in their desired list.

Barcelona thought of their interest for Mina and added him to the deal for Pogba, but the absurd involvement of Andrew Gomes- whose had a horrible decline at the club- was enough to make United reject the offer. The Red Devils are in stern negotiations for the center-backs and could sell the likes of Anthony Martial and Matteo Darmian before the end of the month.
But, the departure of Pogba is almost close to impossible at this point, with the lack of time to find a replacement and his importance to the club's brand being at an all-time high. Barcelona will probably have to look at other options or wait for an opportunity to sign the charismatic Frenchman next summer.
