It has been a real honour to serve the club- Brendan Rodgers talks fondly about Celtic
Brendan has won two domestic trebles and a total of seven trophies in just two years in Scotland.
In a series of very recent developments, Brendan Rodgers was appointed as head coach of Leicester City FC in the midst of his tenure with Celtic. The 46-year-old was very successful at Celtic and was on course to winning his third domestic treble there. Rodgers won an astounding seven consecutive domestic trophies with the Glasgow based outfit since joining them in 2016.
And as such, he expressed his love and affection for his previous side. "I was certainly in no hurry to leave Celtic. Celtic F.C. is a huge club - a worldwide renowned club," Rodgers told Leicester City TV.
"I loved working with the players there and we were on a journey of great success over the last three years," he said.
"But, when the opportunity came to talk to Leicester and I was able to analyse it, it allowed me to probably think that I had achieved and taken the club as far as I could at this moment."
After sacking manager Claude Puel, Leicester City were quick in their pursuit of Brendan Rodgers. His vacated seat at Celtic is supposed to be filled by Neil Lennon at least until the end of the season. Brendan signed a contract until June 2022 with Leicester and the timing of his move has attracted wide criticism.
Fans and former players like Chris Sutton have all voiced their strong discontentment with the managerial change in the middle of the season. Celtic lead the Ladbrokes Premiership by eight points but they face a much stronger title challenge from Rangers F.C. this year than in any of Rodgers’ previous years.
Brendan Rodgers admitted he left the club with the feeling that he took them as far as he could. Speaking to Celtic’s website, he said, "It has been a real honour to serve the club and its supporters across the past three seasons. I have been a Celtic supporter all my life and the reason I came to Glasgow was to work for the club I had such love and affection for.’’

"From the moment I walked into Celtic Park I have been living my dream and, together with the players, staff and supporters, we have been on an amazing journey, which I will never forget."
"To be welcomed in the way I was on my first day at Celtic Park is something I will always treasure. From that day I have given my all to the role of Celtic manager. I would like to sincerely thank the board at Celtic for giving me the opportunity to manage Celtic in the first place and for the support they have given me throughout my time as manager."
He also thanked the Celtic board and the administration in charge of overseeing the day to day affairs of the club. "It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Peter (Lawwell), Ian (Bankier), Dermot (Desmond) and the rest of the Celtic board, and together we have done everything we could to bring success to our supporters."
