Manchester City are sitting tight just behind Liverpool to take advantage in the Premier League.
The Premier League title race is heating up as the table-toppers Liverpool are just a point ahead from Manchester City. A flurry of unexpected results over the few game weeks has escalated the title triumph. Liverpool had a chance to take an extended lead over City but settled for a point against the Red Devils. Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool gaffer, insists that they are on a better position to go forward.
Liverpool will host Watford in this game week as they hope to break the deadlocks after playing two back to back goalless draws against Bayern Munich and Manchester United. Klopp has urged his players to use their league dominance to enhance their game on the field.
Talking to Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp admitted that even a single point earned at Old Trafford is valuable especially in this crunch situation.
“Just, I don’t want to close my eyes to the situation, because if United are beatable on the day, you have to do it – and we didn’t. So that’s still [in my thoughts] somewhere," said Klopp.
“But of course I’m fine with the point. Let’s carry on. There was so much talk about the game again, like Bayern – world-class teams. Now we didn’t score twice against world-class teams, that happened to a lot of other teams as well," he said
He added, “The situation is like it is. In the table we are in a very good position and now we have to make sure we use that on the pitch.”
"It was a difficult game. I still think we should have done better, 100 per cent. We will work on that. We don’t have a lot of time [to prepare] for the Watford game but we play at home and hopefully our people will help us,” said Klopp.
Liverpool have three crucial games in the upcoming fixtures including a Merseyside derby and hosting Tottenham. But in the scuffle of the Premier League fixtures, they will travel to Munich to play in the UEFA Champions League.
