Scott McTominay’s fears have been dispensed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
The young Scottish midfielder thanks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his growth and the chances in the team.
The young Scottish midfielder reaffirmed his commitment to United after his concerns were addressed by caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Under Mourinho, McTominay hovered around the fringes of the side and was even asked to deputise in defence, a position he isn’t naturally suited to.
Ole, however, has shown faith in the youngster’s abilities and shifted him to the centre of the park and this has helped erase McTominay’s fears who committed to the club with a new three-and-a-half-year contract that was signed in January.
“There have been times when it's been so, so tough, you're playing out of position and you're not quite sure exactly how you're perceived and what your role is going forward," McTominay told Sky Sports News.
"But now having played a run of games under Ole it's been much better. We've had some amazing nights and big games as well. I just want to keep learning," he said.
Scott McTominay was an integral part in one of United’s biggest nights ever since Sir Alex departed in 2013, when they conquered PSG at the Parc des Princes in a dramatic last minute win to progress to the quarter finals where they will now face Barcelona.
McTominay has also been included in the Scotland squad for their European championship qualifiers against Kazakhstan and San Marino this week.
While injury woes still haunt Manchester United, Nemanja Matić most recently fell victim to the same and has withdrawn his name from the Serbian squad’s fixtures in the international break. Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial have already been sidelined because of injury and have withdrawn from the England and France squad respectively. Victor Lindelof has also pulled out of the Sweden squad citing personal reasons.
