Maurizio Sarri snubs media after being sent off in Chelsea's draw against Burnley

The Blues played out a hard-fought fixture against Sean Dyche's men.

It was a tough night for Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri, as the Blues could only manage a 2-2 draw against Burnley and failed to capitalize on the points dropped by their rivals.

It was a hard-fought point for Sean Dyche's men in their trip to Stamford Bridge and as the match came to its end, there was a clear sense of frustration from the Chelsea players as they could secure all three points. In the heat of the moment, Mateo Kovacic got involved in a melee and Sarri came down to the touchline to prove his point to the fourth official.

Looking at Sarri's actions match referee, Kevin Friend gave the Italian tactician marching orders. Which according to assistant coach, Gianfranco Zola was a result of misinterpretation and it made Sarri "really unhappy'.

The former Napoli boss was dejected and did not want to face the media even after the match, as Zola took his place and clarified some of the issues.

"Well I think there was a lot of emotion," Zola said when asked why Sarri had sent his assistant to do the post-match interview.

"He was really unhappy with a couple of situations on the pitch. He was unhappy with why he's been sent off, he just went down the line to tell the players to get on with the game. He's been misunderstood by Kevin."

"I'm unhappy about that, he's unhappy about that. That's why I'm here."

Zola admitted that Sarri is emotional and move around a lot and even leaves his technical area at times, but it did not happen against Burnley.

"When he's on the touchline he moves around a lot," Zola added. "He's very emotional. Sometimes he comes out. Today he didn't come out too much.

"When he went there Kevin misinterpreted what he wanted to do. We just wanted to calm our players down. He was trying to help him."

Things got even worse at fulltime when both benches were involved in a melee including defender Antonio Rudiger who was not in the squad due to injury.

"It's a football game and there is lots of passion. We are not happy because of the result and we are not happy because as I said, we felt like didn't play enough," Zola said.

"We show our emotions because we care, they did the same."

This draw against Burnley, puts Chelsea on the backfoot to their bid for top four finish. Although the Blues are in fourth position right now, but Arsenal are only a point behind with a game in hand.
