I am not obsessed by individual prizes- Cristiano Ronaldo

Luka Modric ended the Ballon d'Or dominance of the Portuguese and Lionel Messi in 2018.

Cristiano Ronaldo has urged that he was not 'obsessed' with personal awards after another extraordinary year under his belt. He came in second to his long-time rival Lionel Messi in the number of goals scored in the last 12 months by just two goals with the Argentine scoring 51 goals to 49 coming off from Portuguese captain.

Ronaldo guided Real Madrid to their third successive UEFA Champions League trophy and fourth in five years before he moved to Juventus. He has scored 15 goals in 24 games for the Italian giants. Despite his UCL heroics, he was barred from the FIFA player of the year silverware and the Ballon d'Or trophy with Luka Modric nailing it and breaking the dominance trophy dominance of Ronald and Messi of 10 years.

"I'm not obsessed by individual prizes," Ronaldo told Portuguese sports daily Record.

"The most important thing is to win collective trophies and help the team. The rest comes naturally." Ronaldo added, "I don't think all the time of beating records. I work above all to help the club and be at my best level."

"The technical, tactical and physical level of all teams is better today," he said. "It's increasingly tough to win so I have to keep working hard to stay on top."

Ronaldo, 33, was rested from the UEFA Nations League duties by Fernando Santos. As reported, the sabbatical was given for Ronaldo to better adjust to his new team in Italy. 

Portugal will host the finals of the Nations league in June and will face Switzerland in the Semi Final.
