Asian Games 2026 Closing Ceremony: Date, time, venue, & live streaming details

The Asian Games 2026 closing ceremony will be held on October 4

The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 comes to a close on Sunday, October 4. The closing ceremony will take place at the Paloma Mizuho Stadium in Nagoya, the very same venue that also hosted the opening ceremony.

The ceremony will follow the usual closing format. The athletes will walk into the stadium together instead of in strict country order, with each nation’s flag carried by a chosen athlete. At Hangzhou 2023, P. R. Sreejesh had the honour of being India’s flagbearer in his farewell Games.

This year, Neeru Dhanda, who brought home gold in the women’s individual trap event and collected another gold alongside Kynan Chenai in the mixed shooting event (and a silver in the women’s team event), is fittingly the right athlete to represent the country in the closing ceremony.

Speeches will be delivered from members of the organising committee and the Olympic Council of Asia, who will thank the volunteers, athletes, and the host region and formally declare the Games closed. The Games flame will then be put out, bringing the 16-day event to an end.

The main moment of the night will be the handover to the next host. As tradition demands, the Asian Games flag will be passed on to the next host, and Doha will stage the 2030 edition. Qatar is expected to present a short segment about what to expect. Japan will mark the end of its own Games with a cultural performance and music.

For Indian viewers, the ceremony is the last chapter of a campaign that had high hopes. India arrived with a large contingent aiming to match its record of more than 100 medals from Hangzhou. The Games leave behind some big successes as well as disappointments, with lots of takeaways ahead of the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
