Asian Games 2026 Day 13 Live Updates: India to compete for golds in cricket, hockey, boxing

Despite historic medals in wrestling and sailing, India failed to add to its gold medal tally on Day 12 of the Asian Games 2026, managing two silvers and four bronzes on Thursday.
That could, however, change on Friday —which will provide an opportunity to clinch multiple gold medals and climb up the medal table.
On October 2, the Indian women’s hockey team, and three boxers will compete for gold medals, with more athletes joining if they make the finals of their respective events.

The Indian women’s hockey team will eye their first gold since 1982 when they clash against World No. 4 and defending champions China in the final. India last reached the final in 2018, while finishing with bronze four years later.
All contesting for gold will be boxers Lovlina Borgohain, Ankush Panghal and Parveen Hooda. All three are chasing Indian history and aiming to become India’s first-ever gold medallist in their respective categories.
The last Indian boxer, male or female, to win a gold at the Asian Games was Mary Kom in 2014, while the last male Indian boxer to do so was Vijender Singh in 2010.

India will also be in action in recurve archery, with all three teams—men’s, women’s and mixed—aiming to reach the finals and secure a medal.
After their loss to Pakistan yesterday, the Indian men’s volleyball team will be back in action in the classification match, where they take on South Korea. With semi-finals out of bounds, India will look to end the competition with the highest possible finish.
India’s freestyle wrestlers will start their campaign today and will hope to at least match the two medals by the Greco-Roman wrestlers, if not better it.
The Indian contingent will also compete for medals in sailing, canoe slalom, taekwondo and sepaktakrow.
