India has made a solid start to their campaign at the Asian Games 2026, with six medals in two days—including four on Monday. While a gold is still missing, India has already clinched four silvers and could add to that tally on September 23 (Tuesday).
Day 3 could also very likely produce the nation’s first gold of the Aichi-Nagoya edition of the Asian Games, with the Indian women’s cricket team favourites to defend their title against Sri Lanka in the final.

Medal opportunities will also be available in shooting—which has so far won five of India’s six medals—karate, wushu, swimming and fencing among others.
Meanwhile, the badminton and table tennis teams also secured at least bronze medals by reaching the semi-finals in their respective team events.
Both the Indian men’s and women’s badminton teams will square-off against Japan in their quarter-final ties, while the opponents are more formidable for the Indian table tennis teams.

Having advanced to the last 16 round with a second-placed finish in the group phase, the Indian men’s team meets eight-time reigning silver medallists South Korea for a place in the quarters. On the other side, the Indian women’s team topped their group and will face Thailand (bronze medallist last edition) in their round of 16 tie.
For the first time, Esports players will be in action, as will be the equestrian and fencing athletes. The Indian men’s hockey team are back in action today, taking on Sri Lanka in their second Pool A match. Same for the Indian men’s kabaddi team, who face South Korea in their second group match.
In shooting, Elavenil Valarivan—who clinched India’s first individual medal this edition—will return to action in the 10m air rifle mixed event alongside Parth Mane. With already two medals in the bag, Elavenil will eye a third medal.

India’s day will begin at 5:30 am IST with Esports, Wushu, Soft Tennis and Sepaktakraw events, followed by medal events in badminton and shooting.
