Asian Games 2026: India's updated schedule for Day 3 (September 22)

All eyes will be on women’s cricket, with a gold medal on the line, followed by a medal chance in wushu

The Asian Games 2026 are well underway in Aichi-Nagoya, with the action set to enter Day 3 on Tuesday, September 22. For India, attention will be focused on a couple of key sports, including one gold-medal clash.

So far, India has had a decent outing, having clinched six medals. The newest sport in the mix, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), has given India a medal in its maiden outing, with Suchika Tariyal taking bronze in the Women’s 60 kg category.

However, the other five medals come from the same sport — shooting. India’s women’s 10m air rifle team won silver on the opening day on Sunday, while Elavenil Valarivan added another silver medal in the individual event.

On Monday, the men’s team followed up with another silver medal in the 10m air rifle team event. In the individual event, Himanshu Dhillon also claimed silver, while Rudrankksh Patil settled for bronze.

Which are the sports to watch out for on Day 3?

India will be in action in numerous sports, including swimming, badminton, boxing, equestrian, hockey, kabaddi, karate, sepak takraw, table tennis and soft tennis.

However, cricket will command the nation’s attention, with the Indian women’s cricket team set to face Sri Lanka in the gold-medal clash. Harmanpreet Kaur and co are the defending champions and are heavily backed to retain the title.

Wushu will also feature a medal event, with Hanjabam Langlentombi Devi set to compete in the women’s nandao final.

India’s campaign in the sport has so far been underwhelming, leaving Devi with a key opportunity to break the country’s medal drought.

Also, shooting has multiple events lined up, including the Mixed 10m Air Rifle qualification round as well as the final. Meanwhile, the men’s and women’s skeet events will also continue from Day 1.
