Asian Games 2026: Updated day-wise India schedule for all sports

India will look to surpass their previous best tally of 106 medals from 2022 edition

The Asian Games 2026 is scheduled to take place from September 19 and will be hosted by Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya in Japan.

The event will feature 41 sports with 71 disciplines and will have 469 medal events with 11000+ athletes across Asia aiming to win them.

Team India will compete in 36 sports with 508 athletes competing to finish on the podium. Some of India’s top athletes will be in action.

Mirabai Chanu, who created history at the 2026 Commonwealth Games by becoming the first weightlifter to win three gold medals in women’s weightlifting, will be one of the strongest contenders in the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

Traditional sports like Shooting, Archery, and Wrestling will again be the sports to watch out for, as Indians are expected to win multiple medals in these events.

Dhiraj Bommadevara recently became the first Indian to win the men’s individual recurve title in the Archery World Cup Final this week and will be leading the Archers.

Multiple shooters like Esha Singh, Aishwary Pratap Singh, and Rudrankksh Patil will look to retain their gold medals from the 2022 edition. The spotlight will be on Manu Bhaker, who scripted history with two medals at the Paris Olympics.

Shooters had their best tally in the Hangzhou Games, and they would want to surpass it. Wrestling will also be closely watched as India failed to win a single Gold last time, ending with one silver and five bronze medals.

India have dominated Cricket and Kabaddi in Asian Games history and will once again be the favourites to win Gold.

The likes of PV Sindhu, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, and Chirag Shetty will lead the Badminton contingent. Lovlina Borhogain, Jadumani Singh, and Narendar Berwal will aim for gold, having had to contend with bronze in CWG Birmingham last month.

Tejaswin Shankar, Praveen Chitravel, Sarvesh Kushare, and Gulveer Singh would want to do the same in athletics.

Neeraj Chopra’s injury meant that he had to be withdrawn from the games, which is one of the disappointments for Team India. Yash Vir Singh and Rohit Yadav would want to ensure India’s place on the podium in the Men’s Javelin event.

Many reports suggested that the sports ministry implemented strict criteria for qualifications, which was one of the reasons why a smaller contingent have reached Japan when compared with the one that represented India in 2022.

Fans would be hoping to see the athletes perform and overhaul the tally of 106 medals won last time, and here’s the updated day-wise schedule for the team.
