Asian Games 2026: India bag bronze in men's skeet team event; Anantjeet Naruka reaches individual final
The three shooters finished with a combined score of 346 points.
India picked up another shooting medal at the Asian Games 2026 on Wednesday, September 23, as the men’s skeet team of Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill won bronze in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The three shooters finished with a combined score of 346 points across three days of qualification. This tied them with Kazakhstan for third place, and a shoot-off was required to decide between the two teams, with India coming out on top to claim the medal. Qatar won the event outright with 353 points for gold, and Kuwait shot 348 to take silver.
Looking at the individual scores, Anantjeet was India’s best shooter on the day with 119 out of 125. One of the team’s more experienced players, Mairaj Khan, shot 116, and Bhavtegh Gill added 111 to round out the team total.
Anantjeet’s qualification score also carried him into the men’s skeet individual final, where he finished joint-fourth. That final was set for 12:30 PM IST later the same day, giving him a shot at a second medal. Mairaj and Bhavtegh did not make the cut for the individual round.
For Anantjeet, this bronze continues a pattern. He was part of the Indian men’s skeet team that also won bronze at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, so Wednesday’s medal is his second at this level in the same event.
India’s women’s team also strikes bronze on the same day

India had reason to celebrate twice in skeet shooting on Wednesday. The women’s team of Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Maheshwari Chauhan won bronze as well, with a combined score of 331 points.
China took gold with 357 points, and Kazakhstan won silver with 336. Raiza and Parinaaz both shot 111 out of 125, and Maheshwari added 109.
With these two bronze medals, India’s shooting tally at the Asian Games 2026 rose to seven medals in total: four silver and three bronze. That’s noticeably behind India’s shooting performance at the Hangzhou 2022 Games, where the team returned with seven golds, nine silvers and six bronzes for 22 medals overall, still their best-ever shooting haul at a single Asian Games.
Not every Indian shooter had a good day though. Manu Bhaker, who has an Olympic medal to her name, finished fifth in the women’s 10m air pistol individual final with a score of 181.1, just missing the podium.
In the 10m air pistol team event, the Indian women finished fourth with an aggregate of 1719-44x, edged out for bronze by Vietnam, who scored 1719-46x on the same points total. China won that event with 1735-56x, and South Korea took silver with 1730-55x.

India’s shooters had already delivered earlier in the Games. Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod won silver in the women’s 10m air rifle team event, and Elavenil followed that with an individual silver in the same discipline.
A day later, Himanshu Dhillon and Rundrakksh Patil won silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team event, then added to it individually: Himanshu with a silver and Rundrakksh with a bronze.
