Asian Games 2026: India bag silver in Men's 50m Rifle 3P; Aishwary, Niraj enter individual final
Rudrankksh Patil fell short of a final berth in the individual event.
India’s medal count at the Asian Games 2026 rose to 19 on Friday after the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team added a silver to a tally that already stood at 2 golds, 7 silvers and 9 bronzes.
Rudrankksh Patil, Aishwary Pratap Tomar and Niraj Kumar combined to secure the medal with a score of 1,762-94x. China claimed gold with 1,766-95x, finishing four points ahead of India. South Korea completed the podium with 1751-87x.
It is a 2022 Asian Games reversal, in which India won gold in the same event. Two members of the trio are set to return to action later in the Games.
Aishwary Pratap Tomar’s individual score of 589-34x placed him third overall, and Niraj Kumar’s 588-34x put him fourth, sending both through to the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions individual final. Rudrankksh Patil’s 585-26x was good for ninth place, falling short of a final berth.

The team’s progress through the three positions shows a fairly even performance throughout. The kneeling series produced 294 and then 587 points across its two rounds.
Prone shooting added 297 in the first round, taking the total to 884, and climbed further to 1180 after the second. Standing scored 291 in both of its rounds, closing out the event at 1762.
Squash and table tennis add to India’s medal prospects

A couple more Indian pairs moved closer to the podium in racquet sports on Friday. Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar stormed into the squash mixed doubles semi-finals with an 11-3, 11-5 victory over their Filipino opponents in the quarter-finals, guaranteeing India at least a bronze medal in the event.
At 40, Chinappa reached this stage 16 years on from her first Asian Games medal. Saturday’s semi-final will see the pair face Hong Kong’s Lee Ka Yi and Tang Ming Hong.
Besides her, Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh also guaranteed India medals after securing semi-final places in squash singles on Friday.

A similar guarantee came in table tennis, where Diya Chitale and Manush Shah, the eighth-ranked pair in the world, beat Hong Kong’s world No. 4 combination of Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem 3-1 (11-6, 13-15, 11-9, 11-5) to reach the mixed doubles semi-finals.
It marks only the second time an Indian pair has won a mixed doubles table tennis medal at the Asian Games, the first being Sharath Kamal and Manika Batra’s bronze at the 2018 Jakarta Games. Chitale and Shah will next meet China’s Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha.
