PV Sindhu, India’s most decorated badminton player, begins her Asian Games 2026 journey on September 20 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
She will first turn out for the women’s team, featuring alongside Unnati Hooda, Treesa Jolly, Gayatri Gopichand, Kavipriya Selvam, Simran Singhi, Tanisha Crasto, Tanvi Sharma, Devika Sihag and Isharani Baruah in a squad built with real depth across singles and doubles.

Sindhu’s Asian Games record so far
Sindhu isn’t new to this stage, and her past results give context to what’s at stake this time. At the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, she became the first Indian badminton player to reach an Asian Games singles final. She got past world number two Akane Yamaguchi in the semifinal before losing to Tai Tzu-ying in the final, settling for silver, still her best individual finish at the Games.
Four years earlier, at Incheon 2014, Sindhu was part of the Indian women’s team that won bronze, though her personal run in the singles draw ended in the round of 16 that year. At the most recent edition, held in Hangzhou in 2023 due to the pandemic-related delay, her singles campaign ended at the quarterfinal stage.
