The reigning Olympics champion started his 2023 season with a win in Doha leg of Diamond League.
After a season-opening title in the Doha Diamond League, Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra will be next in action at the Fanny Blankers-Koen Games at Hangelo, Netherlands on June 04. Chopra, 25, won the Doha Diamond League last week with a World Lead throw of 88.67m in the field consisting of Olympic silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch and World Champion Anderson Peters.
The FBK Games organizer in their social media handle confirmed the participation of Neeraj Chopra, "Another Olympic Champion is coming to Hengelo. With a personal best of 89.94m and an Olympic gold medal, javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is always pushing the limits."
The FBK Games is a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold Level meet. Neeraj Chopra is set to face reigning World Champion Anderson Peters for the second successive time inside a month's time. Peters had finished third in Doha with a best throw of 85.88m behind Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic who finished second with 88.63m.
A few days back, Neeraj Chopra put up a photo on his Instagram handle standing alongside Johannes Vetter from Germany. Vetter has been out of action for the past year and is slowly recovering to full fitness. The German has a rich history in Javelin throw and has a career-best throw of 97.76m (in 2020). Both Neeraj and Vetter share a good bond and should soon be seen in action together.
Currently, the World Championship silver medalist is training in Turkey and will be looking to breach the coveted 90m mark that has been asked by general audience since his triumph at Tokyo Olympics 2020.
