The Brussels Diamond League 2023 is set to host a star-studded lineup featuring 13 world champions from recently concluded World Athletics Championships 2023. Among the most notable athletes, Shericka Jackson, the 200m gold medalist and pole vault sensation Mondo Duplantis will grace the competition.
Meanwhile National Record holder Annu Rani will be the sole Indian representative in the women's Javelin throw. The fans can look forward to the return of Femke Bol, the world 400m hurdles champion, and Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who aims to break the 2000m world record. Jamaica's Shericka Jackson having already qualified for the Diamond League finals, might focus in sprint event.
Mondo Duplantis is on the cusp of breaking his own pole vault world record, with EJ Obiena as his main rival. Jakob Ingebrigtsen seeks to beat Hicham El Guerrouj's 2000m record, facing tough competition from Spain's Mo Katir and Norwegian Narve Gilje Nordas.
Mary Moraa, fresh from her 800m world title, eyes success in the 400m. The men's 400m promises a thrilling rematch between Kirani James and Quincy Hall, with Matt Hudson-Smith also in contention. The high jump battle between Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Eleanor Patterson continues. Javelin champion Kitaguchi Haruka returns, and steeplechaser Winfred Yavi competes in the 5000m.

Annu Rani, India's star Javelin thrower is the sole Indian representative in the Brussels Diamond League 2023. The national record holder has been not been in good form this year failing to breach the 60m mark at the World Championships. However this will be a competition for her to participate in ahead of the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Brussels Diamond League 2023 program
The Diamond League in Brussels will have a total of 15 events – five for men and ten for women. The event for men are – 200m, 400m, 800m, 2000m, and Pole Vault.
While the events for women are – 100m, 400m, 1500m, 2000m, 3000m, 400m Hurdles, High jump, Javelin throw, Triple Jump and Shotput. These 15 competitions will provide Diamond League points to the athletes which will eventually help them in qualifying for the finals which will take place in Eugene, Oregon on September 16th and 17th.
