As the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon 2023 approaches, veteran runners are preparing for the city’s highly anticipated event scheduled for November 26, 2023 (Sunday).
83-year-old Munindra Vasavada, set to be the oldest runner at this event, shared his enthusiasm and preparations. “I live in Gandhinagar with my son. I recently participated in a local running event, and everyone was thrilled about it.
“Looking forward to participating in Ahmedabad on the 26th, accompanied by my family. Walking and running have been part of my daily life, having been my primary means of commute in my younger days,” he expressed.
Vasavada emphasized that despite easier access to vehicles today, he believes in a simple lifestyle. “I still prefer walking and running marathons has become my hobby. I’ve participated for 8-10 years. My granddaughter joins me, and my son, an avid runner, has partaken in about 15 full marathons in the USA and India,” he continued.
Hemal Shah, an ardent participant in the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon since its inception in 2017, conveyed her excitement for the upcoming race. “It’s a signature event for Ahmedabad. I’ve participated since the first edition and even took part virtually during COVID times.
“Having run for over 20 years and engaged in more than 15 marathons across India and overseas, it’s an honor to participate in our home event,” she expressed. As President of the Amdavad Distance Runners group, Shah anticipates running the marathon at the scenic Riverfront Sports Park and is enthusiastic about the new route.

Ingit Anand, a Project Lead at a Real Estate firm, shared his enthusiasm for the marathon, highlighting his preference for running and endurance sports as a lifestyle choice. “Endurance sports are a part of my life, helping me maintain my fitness and health. I’ve participated in numerous triathlons worldwide, including two full and over 25 half marathons. Events like these drive me to improve and take on new challenges,” Anand emphasized.
The upcoming Adani Ahmedabad Marathon will commence at the picturesque Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park and conclude there. The event, eagerly anticipated in Ahmedabad, celebrates a fitness-driven lifestyle. The race will be inaugurated by former Indian cricket captain Mithali Raj and Gujarati actor Malhar Thakar.
The marathon, an initiative of the Adani Group, stands in solidarity with India’s armed forces. Since its inception in November 2017, it has grown to encompass various race categories and has seen a significant rise in participation, with special efforts to adjust to post-COVID norms. The “#Run4OurSoldiers” campaign remains a unique feature, aiming to honor soldiers and support their welfare.
Adani Sportsline, the sports arm of the diversified Adani Group, founded in 2019, focuses on fostering a sports culture at grassroots levels and offering opportunities for India’s aspiring athletes. Their overarching mission aligns with the broader vision of contributing to India’s status as a leading sporting nation.
