Ahmedabad Marathon 2023 raises Rs 50 lakh for welfare of armed forces

The marathon witnessed record-breaking participation of over 22,500 runners.
The Adani Ahmedabad Marathon 2023 was a grand celebration, uniting the city and running community. Dedicated to the armed forces with the ‘Run4OurSoldiers’ campaign, it raised Rs 50 lakh for their welfare via United Way India.
The race commenced at Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Park, graced by Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari AVSM VM, Major General S.S. Virk, Mithali Raj, Malhar Thakar, Karan Adani (CEO, Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd), Dr Priti Adani (Chairperson, Adani Foundation), and Jeet Adani (Director – Airport Business, Adani Group).
With a record 22,500+ participants, including armed forces, police, and visitors, it marked the first time at the heart of the city. Categories included Full Marathon, Half-marathon, 10km run, 5km run, and the inaugural Samarth Champions Wheelchair Drive, totaling 162 winners. The event honored the armed forces with their band playing the national anthem before each race.
Karan Adani expressed gratitude, calling the day a monumental success, and emphasizing the unity displayed in supporting the armed forces. Jeet Adani highlighted the impactful Samarth Champions Wheelchair Drive, aiming to foster more opportunities for specially-abled individuals.

Air Marshal Tiwari praised the city’s energy and support for the armed forces, acknowledging the event’s significance for fitness and civic engagement against the riverfront backdrop. Mithali Raj anticipated a running revolution in Ahmedabad and Gujarat, impressed by the vibrant atmosphere.
Malhar Thakar appreciated the event’s spirit, likening the lively participation to the return of festive fervor. The marathon indeed resonated as a celebratory spectacle for Ahmedabad.
