India have named a 15-member squad for the event.

Asian Games gold medalist Tajinderpal Singh Toor and silver medalist Jyothi Yarraji will lead the 15-member strong Indian athletics team for the upcoming Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2024 starting from 21st February in Tehran, Iran. The Asian Indoor Athletics Championships is a biennial competition organised by the Asian Athletics Association since 2004.

India’s seasoned campaigner and Asian Champion Tajinder Pal Singh Toor will look to defend his title in the Shot Put, having been the sole gold medalist for India in the previous edition of the tournament.

On the other hand, Jyothi Yarraji and Pavithra Venkatesh aim to upgrade their medal colours from silver to gold in the 60m hurdles and Pole Vault events, respectively. Asian Games medalists Harmilan Bains (1500m), Ajay Kumar Saroj (1500m), and Gulveer Singh (3000m) are also part of the Indian contingent. Long jumper Shaili Singh, a silver medallist at the 2021 U-20 World Athletics Championships, is also a part of the squad.

Shaili will be accompanied by Nayana James in the long jump event. In the last edition, India secured a total of eight medals, comprising one gold, six silver, and one bronze, finishing in the sixth position in the overall medal tally. This time, with the Asian Games success at the back of the Indian athletes, this dynamic contingent will look to increase their medal tally past eight.
