India’s fastest man, Animesh Kujur, now holds the NR in both men’s 100m & 200m events.

Animesh Kujur shattered the National Record in men’s 100m at the Dromia International Sprint & Relays Meeting in Greece on Saturday, July 5. The athlete finished the race in 10.18 seconds, becoming the first Indian to complete the event in under 10.20 seconds.

The previous NR was held by Gurindervir Singh (10.20 seconds), which he set during the Indian Grand Prix 2025 in Bengaluru in March 2025. Animesh, the new national record holder, finished first in Heat 2 and third overall in the men’s 100m event at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver event in Greece.

South Africa’s Benjamin Richardson finished first in Race C and overall, clocking a time of 10.01 seconds. Meanwhile, Ali Anwar Al-Balushi from Oman finished second in Race C and overall with a time of 10.12 seconds to set his new personal best.

India’s Lalu Bhoi (10.42s) and Dondapati Mrutyum Jayaram (10.47s) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in Race A. They secured the 15th and 16th positions overall, achieving the timings with the assistance of the wind.

Former men’s 100m national record holder Manikanta Hoblidhar finished seventh in Race C and 19th overall among 24 racers with a timing of 10.52 seconds.

The final of the men’s 100m race at the Dromia International Sprint and Relays Meeting will take place on Sunday, July 6.
