Mohammed Afsal betters his own National Record in men's 800m at Poland meet

This was the second time in 2025 that Afsal has broken the NR in men’s 800m.
Mohammed Afsal P shattered the National Record in men’s 800m race at the Memorial Czesława Cybulskiego 2025. He clocked a timing of 1:44.93 seconds to better his own previous NR of 1:45.61 seconds, set during the UAE Athletics Grand Prix 2025 in Dubai earlier this year. The Indian runner finished sixth in the race, setting his lifetime best in the event.
All three top spots in the event at the Memorial Czesława Cybulskiego 2025 were bagged by athletes from the host nation. Maciej Wyderka secured the top spot with a time of 1:44.23 seconds, setting a new Meet Record and a personal best.
Filip Ostrowski and Patryk Sieradzki from Poland finished second and third in the race with a time of 1:44.25 seconds and 1:44.56 seconds, respectively. Both Polish athletes set new personal bests in the category.
Great Britain’s Tiarnan Crorken (1:44.89s) and Poland’s Jakub Chmielarz (1:46.07s) also set new personal bests in men’s 800m. Polish runner Mateusz Borkowski clocked a time of 1:45.25 seconds to register his best in the ongoing season.

A total of 12 athletes competed in the men’s 800m event at the Memorial Czesława Cybulskiego 2025. Five runners from hosts Poland, three from Great Britain, and one each from India, Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium were in action on Saturday.
11 runners finished the race, while Aaron Botterman from Belgium failed to finish the men’s 800m race.
