Parul Chaudhary wins silver in women's 3000m Steeplechase at Asian Athletics Championships 2025

Parul Chaudhary clinched the silver medal in the women’s 3000m Steeplechase event at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 in Gumi, Republic of Korea, on Friday, May 30. The national record holder clocked a time of 9:12.46 seconds to better her own National Record.
Parul held the previous National Record of 9:13.39 seconds, which she set at the Doha Diamond League 2025 in Qatar two weeks earlier. However, the Indian athlete failed to defend her title in the women’s 3000m Steeplechase event, having won the previous edition in 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.
A total of 13 players took the field in the event, including two each from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, and Japan. The Republic of Korea had three players in action, while one player each from China and Kuwait competed in the women’s 3000m steeplechase final.
Kazakhstan’s Norah Jeruto Tanui won the gold medal with a time of 9:10.46 seconds, while her compatriot bagged the bronze medal, clocking a time of 9:27.51 seconds.

All three medalists surpassed the previous competition record of 9:34.13 seconds held by India’s Babar Lalita, which she set during the 2015 edition of the Asian Athletics Championships in China. Norah’s 9:10.46s is the new competition record in the women’s 3000m steeplechase event.
Ankita, the other Indian athlete in the fray, finished fifth in the competition with a time of 9:41.54 seconds. She failed to get past her season and personal best of 9:39.00.
