The Asian Athletics Championships 2025 will be held from May 27 onwards.

The Asian Athletics Championships 2025 concluded on Saturday (May 31) after five days of thrilling action, that saw 59 Indian athletes compete for continental glory in Gumi, South Korea. India participated in 30 medal events, returning with a total of 24 medals, including eight golds.

Servin Sebastian won India’s first medal of the event in by claiming bronze in men’s 20km race walk on the opening day of the competition.

Meanwhile, Gulveer Singh clinched the nation’s first gold medal, winning it men’s 10,000m. He was also one of three Indian athletes to win multiple medals in the continental showpiece, with Parul Chaudhary (Steeplechase and 5000m) and Pooja (1500m and 800m) being the other two athletes.

However, Gulveer was only Indian athlete to win two gold medals, with those coming in men’s 10,000m and men’s 5000m events.

Parul meanwhile won silver in both women’s 3000m steeplechase and women’s 5000m events respectively while Pooja returned with a silver and bronze in women’s 1500m and 800m.

Among female athletes, Rupal Chaudhary was the first Indian woman to win a medal, winning a silver in 400m event.

Athletes like Jyothi Yarraji and Avinash Sable created history with their medals at the Asian Athletics Championships 2025. The former successfully defended her gold medal while the latter became the first Indian man in 36 years to win Gold in Steeplechase in the competition.
