Asian Athletics Championships 2025: Full schedule, fixtures, results, live streaming details

Neeraj Chopra will skip the event because of international commitments.
The Asian Athletics Championships 2025 will be the 26th edition of the tournament. It is set to take place at the Gumi Civic Stadium in Gumi, South Korea, from May 27 to May 31. South Korea return as the host nation after a 20-year hiatus, having previously hosted the championships in 1975 and 2005. This will be the third time South Korea have hosted the continental event.
This championship carries significant importance, as it offers athletes the chance to earn vital ranking points that contribute to qualification for the World Athletics Championships. Many will also be aiming to achieve the automatic qualification standards, making this event a crucial stop on the international athletics calendar.
At the previous edition, India finished third with an impressive haul of 27 medals (6 gold, 12 silver, and 9 bronze). The Indian team will be aiming to build on that success and deliver an even stronger performance this time around.
In the all-time medal standings, India also occupy the third place, with a remarkable total of 354 medals — comprising 94 gold, 120 silver, and 140 bronze — behind only China and Qatar.

India’s contingent for Asian Athletics Championships 2025
India will field a 59-member contingent, selected based on the qualification standards laid out by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). While most of the athletes met the required marks, a few who achieved the automatic qualifying standard were not included due to selection policies.
Notably, Manikanta Hoblidar and Gurvinder Singh, the current and former national record holders in the 100m sprint, both clocked times faster than the AFI’s automatic qualifying standard of 10.25 seconds. However, they were not selected for the individual event because they did not finish among the top two at the Federation Cup, which was a key criterion for selection. Despite this, both athletes have been included in the 4x100m relay squad.
