Asian Athletics Championships 2025: Live streaming, TV channel, where and how to watch?

A 59-member strong contingent will represent India, but Neeraj Chopra is set to miss the event.

The Asian Athletics Championships 2025 is set to commence from May 26, with South Korea returning as the host nation after a 20-year break, having hosted the championships previously in 1975 and 2005. India performed exceedingly well last year, winning a total of 27 medals including 6 gold, 12 silver, and 9 bronze.

The country will looking to not just repeat their heroics, but to further expand their tally and eye for a higher spot. However, they will receive tough competition from China and Qatar, who finished at the top last season. The Athletics Federation of India selected a 59-member squad based on the qualification standards.

A big miss though, would be two-time Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra who will be absent due to international duties. India’s javelin hopes will be led by young guns Sachin Yadav and Yashvir Singh, while the focus will also be on Jyothi Yarraji (100m hurdles), Parul Chaudhary (3000m steeplechase) and Abdulla Aboobacker (triple jump), who will return to defend their respective Asian titles in Gumi.

Parul Chaudhary, fresh off a national record in the 3000m steeplechase, will be a key name in the Indian women’s squad, having also won silver in the 5000m at the last edition. The squad also features Asian Games javelin champion Annu Rani, long jumpers Shaili Singh and Ancy Sojan, and quarter-milers Rupal Chaudhary and Vithya Ramraj, who is also entered in the 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay.

Notably, previous gold medallists Tajinderpal Singh Toor (shot put) and Ajay Kumar Saroj (1500m) will also remain absent from the tournament. More than 2000 athletes from 43 countries are set to feature in the event, including Paris Olympics Gold medalist Arshad Nadeem.

The 26th edition of the Asian Athletics Championships is scheduled to take place from May 27 to 31 at the Gumi Civic Stadium in Gumi, South Korea.
