Indian athletics domestic calendar to begin with National Cross-Country Championships.

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has released the domestic events list for the 2025 season. With the country bidding to host the Summer Olympics 2036, the athletes will aim to break their records.

The domestic calendar features numerous track and field events, with highlights including the Indian Open Throws Competition, National Cross-Country Championships, Grand Prix, Indian Open Athletics Meetings, National Open Athletics Championships, and prominent long-distance events such as the National Marathon, Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, and Tata Steel World 25K.

However, the event that is expected to attract significant attention in 2025 is none other than the first Indian Open as it will be India’s debut as the host of the World Athletics Continental Tour – Bronze Level meeting. Notably, the tour is divided into four levels – Gold, Silver, Bronze and Challenger.

Moreover, the competition is set to be staged in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, which is also set to attract athletes from different nations beyond India.

The Indian athletics domestic calendar to begin with National Cross-Country Championships starting on January 12 at the Army Golf Course, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The domestic events are set to culminate with the prestigious Tata Steel World 25K event, slated for December 21.
