The Paavo Nurmi Games 2024 are all set to take center stage on June 18 at the Paavo Nurmen stadion in Turku, Finland. The event is the seventh World Athletics Continental Tour – Gold meeting of the 2024 Athletics season.
The competition will feature track events, including the 100m, 800m, 1500m, 110m/100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, and the 3000m steeplechase. Additionally, the field events will include the javelin throw, high jump, pole vault, triple jump, and hammer throw.
Indians participating at Paavo Nurmi Games 2024
The reigning Olympic and World champion Neeraj Chopra will be the lone Indian athlete set to compete at the Paavo Nurmi Games 2024. At the Paavo Nurmi Games 2022, Chopra achieved the second-best throw of his career with an 89.30m mark.

However, in this edition of the competition, Chopra is likely to face a stiff challenge from world leader Max Dehning. Former world champion Anderson Peters and the London Olympics champion Keshorn Walcott are other javelin throwers to watch out for. Additionally, local favourite Oliver Helander could also pose a significant challenge to the Indian athlete.
Other athletes to watch out for at Paavo Nurmi Games 2024
In the men’s 100m, Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs, the 200m Olympic gold medalist Andre De Grasse, Jerome Blake, and Benjamin Azamati are a few athletes to look out for at the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting.
Meanwhile, the women’s 100m hurdles too will feature a star-studded lineup including the reigning Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, former Olympic medalist Nia Ali, and the former World Championships medalist Britany Anderson, among other top athletes.

The Paavo Nurmi Games 2024 will also witness the participation of Eleanor Patterson (high jump), Nina Kennedy (pole vault), Shanieka Ricketts (triple jump), Anita Włodarczyk (hammer throw), and Omar McLeod (110m hurdles), among other big names.
