The 2024 Diamond League heads to Stockholm’s Olympic Stadium on June 2 (Sunday) for the seventh leg of the series. Stockholm Diamond League 2024 will feature approximately 300 athletes from 50 nations, including world champions and Olympic medalists.
Swedish pole vault superstar Mondo Duplantis, fresh off a world record of 6.24m in Xiamen, will aim to maintain his winning streak in front of his home crowd. He will face strong competition from fellow podium finishers at last year’s World Championships, Ernest John Obiena and Chris Nilsen, as well as other six-meter vaulters KC Lightfoot and Sam Kendricks.
In the men’s discus, world record-holder Mykolas Alekna, who threw 74.35m in April, will compete against world and Olympic champion Daniel Stahl and Olympic silver medalist Simon Pettersson, both boosted by the home crowd’s support. The field also includes in-form Australian Matthew Denny, 2017 world champion Andrius Gudzius, Olympic bronze medalist Lukas Wiesshaidinger, and 2019 world silver medalist Fedrick Dacres.
The women’s 400m hurdles will feature the undefeated Femke Bol, who has twice broken her own world indoor 400m record this year. She will face the Jamaican trio of Rushell Clayton, Andrenette Knight, and Janieve Russell. In the men’s event, 2022 world champion Alison Dos Santos, also undefeated in Stockholm, will compete against world silver medalist Kyron McMaster and 2019 world bronze medalist Abderrahman Alsaleck.
Other notable events include the women’s high jump, with world champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh making her outdoor season debut against 2022 world champion Eleanor Patterson and world indoor champion Nicola Olyslagers. The women’s 200m will feature a rematch between Brittany Brown, who ended Shericka Jackson’s two-year winning streak in Oslo, and Jackson herself.
