Malaysia Open 2023: Updated Day 2 India Schedule
PV Sindhu, HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen will be in action!
India did not have a good start on the opening day of the BWF 1000 Malaysia Open 2023 with only one Indian pair progressing to the next round in the five matches held. Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand was the only pair to progress, with former World No. 1s Kidambi Srikanth and Saina Nehwal making an early exit.
On day 2 (Wednesday), PV Sindhu will take on Carolina Marin in the women’s singles round of 32. Their rivalry dates back to the 2016 Rio Olympics final where the latter won the gold medal. Marin has been battling injuries and made a good comeback in 2022. PV Sindhu wasn't much active after the 2022 Commonwealth Games battling an injury that forced her to sit out of the 2022 BWF World Tour finals in December 2022.
India’s current World No. 1 HS Prannoy is set to battle out against fellow Indian Lakhsya Sen. This will be the second time in five months that both will be playing the opening encounter at the BWF tour events. Malvika Bansod will meet South Korean and second-seeded An Se Young.
World No. 5 pair of Satwik/Chirag will look to start the 2023 season on a bright note after finishing the 2022 season by winning the prestigious BWF 750 French Open. Take a look at the full schedule for India on day 2 of the BWF World Tour event.
