Watch: Thai shuttler and Liverpool fan Kunlavut Vitidsarn brings out Haaland's 'Yoga' celebration on court

The football celebrations continue at Sudirman Cup 2023. After Lee Zii Jia's "Siiuu" celebration on May 15 (Tuesday), now Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn has pulled off a football celebration in the tournament. The 22-year-old brought out Erling Haaland's "Yoga" celebration after beating Indonesia's Jonatan Christie during Thailand vs Indonesia clash in a Group B tie.
Vitidsarn, who has publicly professed his love for Liverpool previously, brought out the celebration after coming from a game down to win the men's singles clash 12-21, 21-12, 22-20 against Jonatan Christie. His win put Thailand 2-0 up in the tie and they eventually went on to the tie 3-2 to confirm a top-place finish in Group B.
Interestingly, Kunlavut Vitidsarn also performed French star Kylian Mbappe's goal celebration before sitting down and pulling off Haaland's "Yoga" pose amidst huge cheers from the crowd. While his fans initially termed it as a tribute to Liverpool and Egypt star Mo Salah, given Vitidsarn is a Liverpool fan, the Thailand star later confirmed that it was indeed Haaland's "Yoga" celebration.
"This is how (Manchester City) striker Erling Haaland celebrates. I really like it but I must say I love Liverpool," added Vitidsarn on his yoga meditation pose.
This round three match between Vitidsarn and Christie had all the action and drama that fans of the game come to see. After losing the first set Vitidsarn turned things around. He went on to win the second and third set to give his nation the much-needed points that took them to the top of the Group. Thailand sealed the top spot in Group B followed by Indonesia closely in the table. However, both teams have ensured their qualification to the knockout rounds.
The match was all-important with the high stakes but Kunlavut pulled it through with his sheer will. Moreover, his victory celebration was also the perfect icing on the cake.
The 2023 Sudirman Cup is currently underway in Suzhou, China. This is the 18th edition of the tournament and has 16 nations competing for ultimate glory. The tournament started on the 14th of May and will reach its conclusion on the 21st. Teams were divided into four pools namely A, B, C and D with four teams each.
China and Denmark qualified for the knockouts from Group A, while Thailand and Indonesia made it to the quarter-finals from Group B. Malaysia and Chinese Taipei made it through from Group C at India's expense, while it was Korea and Japan progressed from Group D.
The quarter-finals will take place on May 19 (Friday). Chinese Taipei will face Korea on Court 1, while simultaneously Thailand will play Japan on Court 2 in the early morning start. In the late afternoon matches, China face Indonesia, while Denmark are up against Malaysia for a place in the semis. The semi-finals are schedule for May 20, while the final will take place on Sunday (May 21).
