Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty attain career-best World No. three in latest BWF doubles rankings
Youngster Priyanshu Rajawat reaches top 30 in men's singles rankings
India's number one men's doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have attained their career best ranking (WR 3) in the recently released BWF rankings on June 20th (Tuesday). The Indian pair also become the first ever men's doubles pair to reach the top 3. They had already attained WR 4, two weeks prior to the Indonesia Open and after a successful stint (winning the Indonesia Open BWF 1000 title) the pair gained valuable ranking points to achieve their career best rank.
SatChi became the first ever Indian to win a BWF World Tour 1000 title last week by defeating world champions Chia/Soh in straight games. The Indian pair had a pretty tough time since becoming the Asian champions. They lost in the opening encounter in two BWF tour events (Thailand and Singapore) and in the process lost few spots in the rankings. The Asian champions made a terrific comeback defeating home favourites and top seed in the quarter-finals and world champions in the final.
On the other hand, two time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu progressed by spots (WR 12) to reach closer to the top 10. Upcoming star and Orleans Masters winner Priyanshu Rajawat jumped up by four spots to attain his career best rank (WR 30). Other major gainers is the young mixed doubles pairing of Ashwini Ponappa and Tanisha Crasto who have risen by 14 spots (WR 62).
