After a week's break the badminton action shifts to North America for the Canada Open (BWF 500) which is set to held in Markin-MacPhail Centre in Calgary. None of the Singaporean players are participating in Canada Open 2023 but the fans can watch enthralling action of other top players in the tournament.
World's top ranked singles player Viktor Axelsen withdrew from the tournament as he needs complete recovery and training for the next few weeks. Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn will lead the men's singles contingent. In the women's singles Akane Yamaguchi continues to hold on to the top spot and will be looking to add one more title to her trophy cabinet. Nozomi Okuhara who returned back from injury few weeks back is once again back to action and subsequently gets the last seeding.
Michelle Li will the home favourite taking part in the competition. She has won the title a record five times and will definitely have the backing of her home fans.
