Where and how to watch Korea Open 2023 live in Indonesia?
Antony Ginting and Mariska Tunjung will be back after a brief period
Korea Open 2023 is going to be the fifth Super 500 event of the BWF World Tour 2023. Since this season, a BWF calendar year now has nine Super 500 events. Korea Open begins on the 18th of July, 2023, and will see the finals being played on the 23rd of July, 2023.
For Indonesia, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung is the only singles seeded player participating in the tournament. The 23-year-old World No. 8 has had a decent BWF World Tour 2023 circuit. She won the Spain Masters and was the finalist at the Malaysia Masters. Tunjung also has a semi-final appearance and two quarter-final appearances in the season so far and is in the 14th place in the Road to Paris rankings.
As for the doubles, the experienced pairs of Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Adrianto (top seed) and Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan (seventh seeds) are seeded pairs at the Korea Open 2023. Only the top 8 placed pairs in the Road to Paris rankings will represent their country in the Paris Olympics 2024, and no more than two pairs from the same country can play in the quadrennial mega event.
Thus, for a country like Indonesia, which has five pairs in the top 20 rankings of men's doubles, the competition will be very tough not only with the outsiders but also with the teams from their home country. And much to the surprise of many, the top seed and World No. 1 duo are not in the top 8. And thus, in danger of missing out. However, the season is long and, it would be very unlikely that only one men's doubles pair from Indonesia plays in Paris.
