Pramod Bhagat, Krishna Nagar qualify for Para Asian Games

The selection trials for the Para Asian Games was held in Greater Noida from July 24 to 26.
Tokyo Paralympics gold medallists Pramod Bhagat, Krishna Nagar alongside few other experienced shuttlers shuttlers have qualified for upcoming Hangzhou Para Asian Games. The trials for the same was held in Greater Noida from July 24 to 26. Bhagat in men's SL3 category recorded four wins out of the five matches thereby earning him a place in singles.
In the doubles, Pramod partnering Sukant Kadam registered three wins out of four matches to seal a spot in men's doubles. Not ending here, the 35-year-old also earned a spot in the mixed doubles with Manisha Ramadas - winning five out of the six matches.
Pramod Bhagat on qualifying for Asian Games in three events iterated to ANI, "I am to have sealed all three spots for Asian Para Games. It's been a very exciting and competitive few days. All I am thinking about is recovery and focus for next week's 4 Nation International in England."
Among others, Suhas Yathiraj, Tarun, Mansi Joshi, and Thulasimathi Murugesan have also made the cut for the Asiads. Suhas and Mansi have loads of experience going into the Games having already clinched bronze medals in the previous edition in 2018.
Krishna Nagar after suffering from injuries and few personal problems post the Paralympics victory has made his presence for Asian Para Games. He made a comeback this year and finished third and second at Thailand Para Badminton and Bahrain Para Badminton. After a break of one-month he clinched the top spot at Canada Para International and performed equally well in both singles and doubles.
In the doubles, Krishna has been partnering Sivarajan Solaimalai and have had good results in the limited tournaments they have played together. The Para Asian Games is scheduled to take place from 22 to 28 October.
