The Chinese was recently inducted into the BWF Hall of Fame.

Lin Dan is arguably the greatest badminton player ever, having won all there was to win possibly, by the age of 28. The Chinese national has won 66 career titles in his career that spanned over two decades. Super Dan, as he is fondly called by his fans and his former rivals, held a superior head-to-head record against all his major rivals, including Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, Chen Jin of China, Chen Long of China, Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia and Peter Gade of Denmark.

In fact, Lin Dan holds a superior head-to-head record against any shuttler he has faced on 10 or more occasions. The legend's career has been full of controversies and injuries. The man with the most gold medals in men's singles at the Summer Olympics was constantly at the receiving end of his rivals, who have often accused him of throwing away matches for his compatriots. And injuries made him miss many tournaments on the international circuits for many years.

The 39-year-old retired from the international circuit on 04 July 2020, citing injuries as the reason behind this difficult decision. And yet, Lin Dan has been able to finish with a career every aspiring badminton player wishes to emulate.
