Newly crowned World No. 1 men's doubles pair Satwik-Chirag are among those who have pulled out.
The BWF Arctic Open 2023 is set to take place in Vantaa, Finland, from October 10 to 15, marking its return after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This prestigious tournament will witness the world's top players battling for the coveted world title. However, several players have withdrawn from the event for various reasons.
A 22-member strong Indian contingent will compete at the BWF 500 Arctic Open 2023. Leading the charge is former world champion PV Sindhu in women's division and Kidambi Srikanth in men's singles.
In the women's singles category, two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu will go head-to-head against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara, another former world champion, in the opening round. Sindhu, who recently participated in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, enters the BWF Arctic Open 2023 as the eighth seed.
Aakarshi Kashyap will represent India in the women’s singles main draw, while Tanya Hemnath and Malvika Bansod will begin their journey from the qualifiers. India's challenge in the men's singles category will be led by Kidambi Srikanth.
