HS Prannoy continue to remain absent with injury.
India's prospects at the BWF French Open 2023 badminton event in Rennes, which commences this Tuesday, have taken a turn with the unfortunate news of HS Prannoy withdrawing due to injury. Prannoy ranked at world No. 7, will be notably absent due to a back injury. Aakarshi Kashyap has also pulled out of the French Open 2023 after playing the recently concluded Denmark Open 2023.
Despite these setbacks, India's challenge at the French Open remains formidable. Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, fresh from her recent semi-final appearances at the Arctic Open and the Denmark Open, will lead the way in the women's singles event.
Defending champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the world No. 1 men's doubles pair, will aim to maintain their winning momentum in the men's doubles category. Their gold medal win at the Asian Games 2023 underscores their caliber.
In men's singles, Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen and former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth will shoulder the responsibility.
Rutuparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda will take on the challenge in women's doubles, while India will not participate in the mixed doubles category.
