Sindhu also reached the semifinals in Arctic Open last week.

India's top-ranked women's singles shuttler, PV Sindhu, secured a commanding victory over Thailand's Supanida Katethong in the quarterfinals of the Denmark Open 2023. Sindhu won in straight games (21-19, 21-12) to move into the women's singles semifinals, a second consecutive semi-final appearance for Sindhu in the BWF World Tour. This impressive performance came on the heels of her Asian Games exit, where she faced disappointment.

In the first game, Sindhu took control early but faced a strong comeback from the Thai opponent, who narrowed the gap to 18-19. However, Sindhu's composure and effective counter-attacks secured her the first game with a score of 21-19.

The second game showcased Sindhu's dominance with a versatile display of badminton skills. She expertly controlled rallies and utilized smashes and delicate drops to force Supanida into numerous unforced errors.

Sindhu's judgment was impeccable as she left four close-to-the-line shots unchallenged in succession. She went on a seven-point winning streak from 9-9 to 16-9 and ultimately took the second game 21-12.

With this commanding performance, Sindhu made a strong comeback after recent disappointments and advanced to the women's singles semifinals where she will face three-time world champion Carolina Marin of Spain who has a better head-to-head record against the Indian. Sindhu has also lost to the Spaniard in their last four meetings.
