Thomas Cup 2024 Champion Indian men’s team goes unseeded in the event

Badminton Asia revealed the draws on Tuesday for the Badminton Asia Team Championships 2024 in Malaysia next month. This event, scheduled from February 13-19, will be a crucial qualifier for the 2024 Thomas and Uber Cup. The competition features 15 teams in the men’s section and 11 teams in the women’s section.

PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy will lead a formidable Indian squad at the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships. Sindhu’s return to competitive badminton after a four-month hiatus due to a knee injury adds anticipation to the event. The women’s singles category will feature promising players like 16-year-old Anmol Kharb, reigning senior national champion, along with Tanvi Sharma and Ashmita Chaliha, both Badminton Asia Junior Championships medallists.

The Indian men’s team, led by HS Prannoy and the doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, faces a challenging draw against China and Hong Kong in Group A for the 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships. With only the top two teams advancing from the league stage, it’s a tough path for them. In contrast, the Indian women’s team, led by PV Sindhu, has a smoother journey with only China in their Group W, securing a spot in the quarter-finals.

The 2024 Badminton Asia Team Championships not only offer a chance for top shuttlers in Asia to secure their positions for the Paris Olympics but also provide a pathway for the four semi-finalists in both men’s and women’s sections to qualify for the 2024 Thomas and Uber Cup in China in April.
