Asian Games 2026 Badminton draws out: Lakshya Sen to meet Loh Kean Yew in round 2, Sindhu faces Letshanaa

Three Indian shuttlers, including PV Sindhu, have received a bye into the second round as the draws for the badminton singles and doubles in Asian Games 2026 were announced on Thursday.
The individual events will start on September 25, with the round of 32 and pre-quarterfinal matches to be played on September 26. The quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals will follow on September 27, 28, and 29.
Starting with men’s singles, Lakshya Sen has a first-round bye and will open his campaign against Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew in the second round.
Meanwhile, Ayush Shetty will face either Kazakhstan’s Makhsut Tajibullayev or Pakistan’s Muhammad Ali Larosh in the second round. He could then face Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in the third round.
Meanwhile, PV Sindhu has also received a bye in the first round and will face Malaysia’s Letshanaa Karupathevan in the Round of 32.
She could potentially face Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki and China’s Chen Yufei in the subsequent rounds. Meanwhile, Unnati Hooda will lock horns against North Korea’s Song Yu Mi in the round of 64.

In men’s doubles events, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will face Thailand’s Peeratchai Sukphun and Pakkapon Teeraratsakul in the first round. If things go as expected, they could clash against the South Korean pair of Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Arjun M.R. and Hariharan Amsakarunan will be a part of an uphill battle against Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.
In the women’s doubles event, the duo of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly will start their campaign against Hong Kong’s Lui Lok Lok and Tsang Hiu-yan. Meanwhile, Kavipriya Selvam and Simran Singhi will face Indonesia’s Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari.

Eight. India has two entries in men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, and women’s doubles each.
