The duo were playing their third consecutive final of 2024
World No. 1 pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty clinched their first BWF World Tour 2024 title at the French Open 2024. The Indian duo achieved victory at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle, the same venue set for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024, by defeating the unseeded team from Chinese Taipei, Yang Po-Hsuan and Lee Jhe-huei, with scores of 21-11, 21-17.
Despite a track record of three consecutive defeats in their last three finals, the Indian pair excelled in the first set, securing it within just 15 minutes during the men’s doubles final. The Chinese Taipei pair made a notable comeback in the second set, reaching the 11-point mark ahead of their opponents.
Nevertheless, the Indian shuttlers, adorned in their saffron-coloured jerseys, maintained composure in the crucial moments of the second set. They secured their eighth BWF World Tour title in a mere 37 minutes, marking the shortest final of all the matches played on Sunday at the BWF Super 750 tournament. Remarkably, the duo did not lose a single game throughout the tournament.
