Viktor Axelsen will be back in action for the first time since the Olympics.

The badminton world’s focus shifts to China this week as the Hong Kong Open 2024 gets underway on September 10.

Two-time Olympic gold medallist Viktor Axelsen will make his return to competitive action at his first tournament since the Paris Olympics. However, several of India’s top players, including Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, PV Sindhu, and Lakshya Sen—who delivered standout performances in Paris—will not be competing in this event.

In women’s singles, Tai Tzu-ying will take center stage. Paris Olympic gold medallist An Se-young, along with other top players like Chen Yufei and Akane Yamaguchi, will also be absent from the Hong Kong Open.
