BWF Hylo Open 2024: Live streaming, TV channel, where and how to watch?
Shuttlers will be playing in Germany for the first time in seven months.
The BWF Hylo Open 2024 will witness 274 players around the globe competing for the title in five events. It is the 27th tournament of this season as the shuttlers have received more than a week’s rest after participating in the Denmark Open. This time the stakes are comparatively less as it is the only super 300 series event in October.
The 37th edition of the event will see Chou Tien Chen leading the fray in men’s singles. The defending champion is aiming for his fourth title as he had recorded successive wins from 2012-2014. The next athlete in focus will be Alex Lanier as he had won the title four years back. His countryman, Toma Junior Popov is seeking to end a three-match losing streak on the tour.
Among the Indians, Sathish Kumar Karunakaran is the highest ranked in men’s singles and is seeded seventh. He will be accompanied by Ayush Shetty, Tharun Mannepalli, S Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian and Chirag Sen in the main draw.
In women’s singles, the last 12 editions have seen 12 players win the title. 30-year-old Line Kjærsfeldt is the top seed and is looking to become the first Danish woman since Tine Rasmussen in 1997 to lift the trophy. She will face tough competition from Kirsty Gilmour who has won the event in 2020.

Malvika Bansod is the sixth seed and is followed by Rakshitha Sree Santhosh Ramraj. The women’s singles and doubles are the only categories where an Indian is yet to win the title as of 2024. Chetan Anand was the first Indian champion as he triumphed in men’s singles in 2008 and a year later, Valiyaveetil Diju/ Jwala Gutta were the winners in mixed doubles.
In 2009, Rupesh Kumar/ Sanave Thomas clinched the men’s doubles title. Nine years later, Subhankar Dey won the men’s singles title as Lakshya Sen followed the same path the next year. This year will see 11 Indians securing the direct qualification into the main draw as only the men’s doubles will not have any Indians in the main draw.
