Reigning Champion and Top Seed Chou Tien-chen will defend his Hylo Open title
The badminton world’s attention shifts to Germany this week as the Hylo Open 2024 begins from October 29. Following the Denmark Open, this Super 300 tournament on the BWF World Tour circuit is one of the last few competitions before the World Tour Finals in December.
The Hylo Open, first held in 1988, was previously known by different names, the most recent being the SaarLorLux Open. In 2018, it became part of the BWF Tour.
The tournament’s top seed, Chou Tien-chen, won the Hylo Open title in 2023. A consistent performer, he reached the quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics and recently claimed the Arctic Open title, defeating Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie in the final.
India’s Malvika Bansod, seeded sixth, has also shown promise. Last month at the China Open, she made a strong impression by defeating Paris bronze medallist Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the first round, followed by a win over Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour. Her impressive run ended in the quarterfinals against Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi.
