The Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour is a series of elite competitions held throughout the year in which quality players compete at six levels, which are World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, Super 300, and Super 100.

Here we take a look at the list of the top five Indian badminton players with the most BWF World Tour titles.
5. Sourabh Verma – 4 Men’s Singles Title
Over the years Indian Badminton has been synonymous with Women’s Singles thanks to Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu who brought home the Olympic glory. But, we have tasted success across categories with many players surreptitiously winning titles in the circuit. Sourabh Verma is one such player who might not have a media spotlight but gets his job done on the court.
He won his first BWF World Tour title at the 2018 Russian Open, becoming the first Indian to win it in Men’s Singles. He won another title the same year by reaching the top of the podium at the Dutch Open. The following year he won two more titles, the first being the Hyderabad Open. Ironically, it was his brother Sameer Verma, who was the defending champion in the tournament. He ended the year becoming the only Indian to lift the title at the Vietnam Open.

4. Lakshya Sen – 5 Men’s Singles Title
Lakshya Sen has become a household name since his heroics at the Youth Olympics in 2018. His success started in his first year as a Pro by winning the Dutch Open in 2019. Later that year, he went on to win the Hylo in Germany. While BWF titles eluded him in the next three years, laurels didn’t elude him as he won the Gold in the Commonwealth Games & Thomas Cup in 2022 and Bronze in the World Championships in 2021.
Sen was getting stronger each season, and his dynamic strokeplay and the energy he brought onto the mat enthralled the fans. The country witnessed close quarters when he won the India Open in 2022. His Canada Open finals triumph in 2023 was a significant confidence booster as he defeated Li Shifeng of China, the same guy who defeated him in the 2018 Youth Olympics Finals.
His unmatched energy was one of the things to watch out for during the Paris Olympics and it was unfortunate that he had to miss out on a medal. But he came back home and won his fifth BWF World Tour Title by winning the Syed Modi International with a dominating 21-6, 21-7 win in the finals.
3. Tanisha Crasto – 5 (3 Women’s Doubles & 2 Mixed Doubles)
Born to Indian parents in Dubai, Tanisha Crasto represented Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates in her early years. She shifted her base to Goa and played for India in 2017. Having spent years in the circuit, Tanisha started making waves in both the Doubles and the Mixed Doubles category. The first of which came in 2022 Syed Modi International.
She partnered with Ishan Bhatnagar in the Mixed Doubles Category to clinch the title. She had to join hands with Dhruv Kapila in 2023 to win the Odisha Masters. It was in the same year that her success stories with Ashwini Ponappa in the Women’s Doubles category began. She won the Abu Dhabi Masters and the Guwahati Masters. 2024 saw the pair successfully defend their title in Guwahati.

Apart from winning two Olympic medals, She created history by winning the first-ever BWF Women’s Singles World Tour Finals in 2018 against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara. She had earlier lost the Thailand Open finals to the Japanese. The win was important to break the finals Jinx for the girl from Hyderabad.
The 2022 season saw her tick most of the boxes as She won three titles, the Syed Modi, Swiss Open, and the Singapore Open. But injuries have been her close friend which has been a hurdle for her in the past, especially in the last 18 months.
She struggled to put forth a convincing performance in the Olympics which resulted in an early exit. She seemed to have worked hard on her fitness and the title clinch at Syed Modi last month brought smiles to the faces of Indian fans.
